There are a few tools that just make you want to sit down and spin—and the Electric Eel FOLD from Dreaming Robots is one of them.
Kaisha has been absolutely loving this little wheel.
What makes the FOLD so special here at Hedgerow Willows Flock & Farm is its versatility. It’s small enough to tuck away and take along, but it has the capability to handle the kind of spinning we love to do—from experimenting with individual Finnsheep fleeces to turning carefully prepared wool into yarn.
And portable? Oh, absolutely. Versatility? The fold has me covered with fine fingering 2ply to mini skeins of bulky art yarn!
It can come along from the studio to the pasture, to fiber festivals, workshops, demonstrations, or simply wherever there happens to be a quiet corner and a basket of wool waiting to be spun.
For a small farm producing farm-raised Finnsheep wool and small-batch yarn in the Pacific Northwest, that portability and reliability matters. Our wool has a story before it ever reaches the spinning wheel—each fleece comes from an individual sheep, with its own color, texture, luster, and character.
The FOLD lets us stay connected to that process during the busiest moments.
From fleece to fiber to handspun yarn, there is something pretty magical about watching the work of the sheep, the land, and the farmer come together one twist at a time.
Every fleece shares a story. And often times that story ends up wound around a our own bobbins.
If you’re interested in Finnsheep fiber, handspinning, farm-to-fiber wool, spinning wheels, and traditional fiber arts, follow along with Hedgerow Willows as we keep turning what our farm provides into something useful, beautiful, and made to last.
Thank you Dreaming Robots for bringing a wonderful selection of quality and accessible wheels to the market!
EEW Fold add ons
The EEW Fold comes with a wall power cord. It becomes even more portable when paired with a compatible battery pack (not included).
Battery bank that Kaisha uses and reccomends - USB-C Power Bank Option
For this option you need a USB-C power bank that supports Power Delivery (PD) of 45W or more and supports 15V output. This INIU Power Bank Mini has been tested and works well. You will also need this USB C to 15V 3A cable which connects from the EEW Fold to the power bank.
12V Battery Option
These battery option works fine, but the EEW Fold will not run at full speed. It will still go over 2000 RPMs which is more than fast enough for most spinners, but if you want to go at maximum speed you need a 15V battery.
The TalentCell 12V 6000mAh (USB-A) provides over 8 hours of use and installs into the bottom case easily. It comes with the cable required to power the EEW Fold. Other batteries with 12V output of 3A and a 2.5×5.5mm barrel connector should work. The TalentCell 7000mAh (USB-C) works as either a 12V battery option or as the USB-C version, but is larger so it needs to sit separately and won’t fit into the bottom case.
The battery compartment size for the EEW Fold is 85x145x30mm. Larger batteries will work, but if you want it to fit in the included bottom cover it should be this size or smaller.

Introducing the SpinOlution Hopper Travel Wheel, a compact, lightweight option for spinners who value portability and creative freedom. Weighing just 13 pounds and folding down for easy packing, the Hopper is designed to travel effortlessly while supporting everything from lace to bulky yarns.
The Hopper has a distinctive treadling style that some spinners love immediately, which is why we recommend a test spin to ensure it’s the right fit for you. For the best experience, proper chair height and leg position are essential—a low chair with good lumbar support allows relaxed treadling.
SpinOlution wheels are made from the highest quality, warp-resistant Baltic birch plywood. Please note that occasional knots or patches may be present in plywood. These cosmetic variations do not affect performance or durability.
