Our Finnsheep

Our farm is focused on producing excellent quality breeding stock with a true tripple purpose. Milk, wool, and meat. A true, homestead worthy sheep, for the small producer. We accomplish this by selecting for soft, crimpy fleeces with high luster in a multitude of colors, excellent mothering and prolificacy, and a tempermant that makes management simple. Our last focus is providing delicious meat for the family/homestead. This is the last thing of importance for our breeding, however still essential. In our opinion, ethical breeding requires culling. “Breed the best, eat the rest.”

Our Ewes

Our ewes hold a special place in our hearts.

The goal in our breeding program is to select ewes who regularly produce 2-4 lambs easily on their own and are able to get them to pasture without the need for supplemental bottle feeding, are able to share their milk with the homestead, and offer medium to fine wool in their lambs.

Breeding Ewes
- Possess superb conformation and balance with a wide hip to facilitate easy birth
- Possess two well-formed and functional teats
- Mature early; capable of lambing as a yearling ewe
- Breed out of season
- Have a good conception rate (Averages: mature ewes 2.7 lambs; yearling ewes 1.9 lambs)
- Be able to raise 2 to 3 lambs with a rate of gain of .6 to 1 lb/day  without assistance (assumes adequate nutrition)
- Be reproductively viable after four years of age
- Exhibit outstanding mothering abilities
- Possess a calm, docile temperament
