Bessie’s Finnsheep yarn is worsted weight with a beautiful heathered appearance created by her naturally black-and-white Dalmation piebald fleece. Her fleece has a little more medium wool character than some of our finer Finns, giving the finished yarn a lovely texture and substance while remaining enjoyable to work with.
Bessie’s unique coloring creates a beautiful blend of light and dark throughout the yarn, rather than a solid black or white. The result is a naturally heathered yarn with depth and character—perfect for sweaters, hats, mittens, accessories, and other projects where you want the fiber itself to be part of the story.
Every fleece tells a story—and Bessie’s is a little bit spotted, a little bit wild, and wonderfully her own.

Barley — Finnsheep Handspun Roving
Meet Barley, one of our handsome brown Finnsheep rams here at Hedgerow Willows Flock & Farm in Ferndale, Washington.
Barley’s fleece is a beautiful rich chocolate brown with a soft, medium luster, giving this fiber a warm, earthy character that is unmistakably his. There is something especially satisfying about spinning naturally colored wool—the depth of color and subtle variation are already there, created by the sheep themselves.
This farm-raised Finnsheep roving comes from Barley’s own fleece, giving you the opportunity to spin with fiber that can be traced right back to the ram who grew it. We love keeping that connection between sheep, pasture, farmer, and maker.
Finnsheep are treasured for their soft, versatile wool and beautiful natural luster, making their fiber a joy to explore at the spinning wheel or spindle. Barley’s rich brown fleece would make a gorgeous natural handspun yarn, whether you leave its chocolate color untouched or blend it with other fibers to create something entirely your own.
Sold by the ounce, Barley’s roving lets you purchase exactly what you need. Try an ounce as a spinning sample, combine it with another Finnsheep color for a naturally blended yarn, or collect enough for a larger knitting, crochet, or weaving project.
At Hedgerow Willows, we love celebrating the individual character of each sheep in our flock. Their fiber isn't simply wool—it is a little piece of the animal, the season, and the farm where it was grown.
Every fleece tells a story. This one belongs to Barley.

Chester — Finnsheep Roving
Meet Chester, our handsome “brown” piebald Finnsheep ram here at Hedgerow Willows Flock & Farm in Ferndale, Washington.
Chester’s fleece is anything but ordinary. While he is considered brown, his piebald coloring and genetics give his fleece a beautiful oatmeal-gray appearance, with soft variations that create depth and character throughout the fiber.
This farm-raised Finnsheep roving comes from Chester’s own fleece, giving you the opportunity to spin with wool that can be traced right back to the ram who grew it. We love that connection—the sheep, the pasture, the farmer, and eventually the hands of the person who turns that fleece into something new.
Finnsheep are known for their soft, lustrous, versatile wool, and Chester's fleece is a lovely example of the natural colors and individuality that make working with breed-specific wool so much fun.
Sold by the ounce, Chester’s roving makes it easy to purchase exactly what you need. Try a small amount for a spinning sample, combine it with another color for a marled yarn, or collect enough for a larger handspinning project.
The natural oatmeal-gray color is wonderfully versatile and would make a beautiful handspun yarn for knitting, crochet, weaving, or other fiber arts. Leave it natural to celebrate Chester’s own coloring, or use it as a soft neutral foundation for your favorite dyed or blended fibers.
At Hedgerow Willows, we believe every sheep contributes something unique to the farm. Chester contributes more than genetics to our flock—he contributes beautiful fiber with a story all its own.
Every fleece tells a story. This one belongs to Chester.
