Sheep Shop › Chester Fingering Weight Yarn

Chester Fingering Weight Yarn

$35.00

Chester is one of our Finnsheep rams, known for his calm presence and beautifully soft, oatmeal-colored fleece. His wool carries a warm, natural tone—somewhere between cream and sun-washed beige—with subtle variation that reflects the seasons and the land he calls home.

Like all of our sheep, Chester is raised with care on our small Pacific Northwest farm, where his health and wellbeing come first. Finnsheep are known for their fine, soft fiber, and Chester is no exception—his fleece is lofty, versatile, and a joy to work with, whether spun alone or blended.

There’s a quiet steadiness to Chester, and it shows in the fiber he grows. His wool reflects both his gentle nature and the thoughtful, sustainable way he’s raised—resulting in yarn that feels grounded, warm, and full of character.

Each skein of Hedgerow Willows yarn begins with a single sheep, raised with care on our small, female-owned farm in the Pacific Northwest. We believe that fiber should tell a story, and by keeping our yarns single-sheep and small batch, we honor the individuality of each animal in our flock. No two batches are exactly alike—each carries its own texture, tone, and character shaped by the seasons, the pasture, and the life of the sheep who grew it.

Our work is rooted in sustainability and a deep commitment to sustainable agriculture at any size. On our farm, we focus on mindful stewardship of both land and animals, using low-impact practices that support soil health, animal wellbeing, and ecological balance. We raise our sheep in a way that prioritizes natural rhythms and small land base balance, allowing both shepherd and sheep to thrive while producing high-quality fiber. This approach not only results in beautiful wool, but also ensures that our practices remain regenerative and responsible.

Once the fleece is harvested, it is processed close to home through local mills, supporting regional economies and reducing the environmental footprint of our yarn. By keeping production local, we maintain a transparent and traceable process from pasture to finished skein. Every step—from shearing to milling—is done with intention, preserving the integrity of the fiber and the story behind it.

Hedgerow Willows flock & farm yarn is more than a material; it is a connection. It connects maker to animal, farm to fiber, and craft to place. It invites you to slow down and create with something that holds meaning beyond the finished piece. Whether knit, woven, or crocheted, each project made with our yarn carries forward the story of the sheep, the land, and the hands that cared for both.

This is yarn for those who value authenticity, transparency, and the quiet beauty of truly small-batch fiber—grown, gathered, and crafted with purpose.
